ForumsSoftware ← will there be VST3 for Aalto, Kaivo and Virta?

Just wondering and forgive me if it's already been discussed.

Best,

Greg

All with version 2 coming ASAP, hopefully later this year.

Great! Thanks so much!!

I was just visiting for this reason; what a timely discussion and pleasant surprise! Version 2's on the horizon.

I just bought Aalto 1 will I have to pay for 2?

Version 2 may be free or discounted if you have bought version 1 recently. Other details I don't know yet, because the software is not even done yet. But I guess this makes you want me to finish it sooner!

Any updates ??
I really cannot use Vst2 or AU with bitwig so.. i really hope it can happen in vst3 :))

Look for these releases in the near future:

  • Sumu 1.0.1 : bug fixes
  • Sumu 1.0.2 : optimizations
  • Aalto 2 : VST3 support and many new features

Thanks for your continued interest and patience. Aalto 2 (and Kaivo 2 etc.) will be a big deal for me too.

Oh so it's a full v2 ??
Kind of impressive then.
Also i know it's not the subject but it would be amazing to be able to batch process with vutu to try out different setup

I hear you, Vutu is solid but can use a lot of "workflow" improvements.

oohhhh, wow randy, i am looking fwd to kaivo 2.0.. vst 3 :).
thanks for the effort!

Yes, looking forward for VST3 versions as I don't install anymore VST2 on my new computer, so that I can't use your products now, except for Aalto Verb.

Any news on the state of VST3 versions? I really miss to use Aalto :(

With the Sumu 1.1 release out, VST3 versions of Aalto, Kaivo and Virta are the top priority now. We're working hard on them.

This is very exciting news. Aalto remains one of my favorite devices and I'm very excited to see where you take it! Thanks for all your hard work. It's appreciated.

Hi all, just wanted to add my own momentum to this thread! I recently purchased Aalto unaware it was VST2 (along with Kaivo which is next on my acquisition list)! It’s no longer officially supported on my primary DAW (Cubase) as Steinberg locked that down a long time ago! I noticed it’s unsupported on JUCE Plugin Host too (and definitely unsupported by Sound Particles 3) which is still in Beta, likely for the foreseeable future.

However, I’ve recently started finally learning Ableton (in part due to everyone’s show of love for it in this forum) and I immediately dug it (being ultra cool, intuitive and unique). Fortunately, it doesn’t appear to have any issue with VST2 (…yay); so currently just exploring its weirding ways!

Naturally, after discovering this thread I’m super relieved to hear that adaptation to VST3 (and other exciting new features seemingly) are already under development! As such, I just wondered is there any further news on its current state of progress (or any potential future roadmap available)?

I totally appreciate if nothing can be discussed at this stage but I just wanted to mention as a brand new user of Aalto that I instantly loved it from the 1st note! It’s really got some serious West Coast vibe and soul and it’s so musical and alive (actually feels like a physical synth instrument) and I’ve really enjoyed playing it like I would a guitar or a didgeridoo!

Seriously loving its unique sound palette, style and character anyway, and naturally can’t wait to see/hear how it develops further (in time) via V.2! :)

We're hard at work on Aalto2 and will release as soon as it's ready. We won't ask for an upgrade fee if you've recently bought Aalto 1.x. I'm shy about saying release dates before we're at beta but it shouldn't be too long—please stay tuned.

Thanks Randy, that’s awesome news (naturally really excited) and in the mean time it will give me chance to learn everything there is to know and absorb about Aalto; but really enjoying using it with Ableton (it’s a gnarly synth) so full of charm and character!

I totally appreciate your kind gesture too (but also happy to contribute in any way I can regardless) as naturally I sincerely understand the energy, time and effort it takes as you and the team work your enchantments and auditory magic!

A huge thanks for the heads up anyway which is very much appreciated! :)

This is good news but please tell me Aalto 2 will be preset compatible with Aalto as I have made hundreds of presets for that and don't want to lose them. Also will it replace Aalto in projects? (I hope it will)

Yes Aalto 2 will be preset compatible. It will not replace Aalto in projects — it will be a different plugin "Aalto 2" that loads the same patches. Otherwise people will install it and be surprised that their old documents don't render exactly the same, etc.

Thanks
