I wasn't subscribed at all...that's why.

what a shame, never received a newsletter about the winter sale (actually, never received a newsletter at all, even if my account is set to). Already own Aalto, and Kaivo is on my whish list...

Hi,
just purchased a copy of Aalto, I like it a lot! But the 64bit version doesn't work in my host, Ableton Live 8.2.5 installed on Windows 7 64bit edition. Actually Ableton Live refuses to see the 64bit version of the plugin, it can see and load just the 32 bit version.

Hi Randy!
As an happy Aalto costumer, I'm really looking forward to play with your new creature. If there was some kind of discount for preorders I'd buy it right today!

Please Please, count me in for the next run!

Little harmony experiment with the sequencer...
try swapping from range +12 to -12.
best on c5, but also playable on different keys.

I noticed that if I set the repeat rate to 2 I actually don't get an envelope output frequency that's twice as faster than the one I would get setting the repeat rate to 1.
In fact, the envelope's output frequency @ rate 2 is slightly slower than the one I would get by actually doubling the envelope's output frequency I get @ rate 1 (it drifts of more that 1 tenth of a second after 16 retriggers)

Same applies with repeat rates of 4 and 2...and so on I guess.

I did the above measurements by connecting env2 output to the gate (delay attack and release to minimum) and recording Aalto's output @ env2 repeat rate 1 - then rate 2 - and finally rate 4.

I guess this bug has been spotted already by someone else.
In Aalto Vst(32bit) loaded in Ableton Live 8.2.5, under Windows 7.
The manual says that patch cords can be deleted by selecting the patch and hitting the delete key, but this method doesn't seem to work here.

Thank you! I had totally forgotten about options.txt...this should solve the issue

Aalto Vst (32bit) - Host: Ableton Live 8.2.5 - Os: Windows7-64bit

How to reproduce:
-1) load the default patch
-2) connect a sequencer's value output to the gate level input
-3) set the sequencer rate to the max
-4) set the sequencer steps to 1
-5) go to the 16th step and raise its value to the max
-6) a pulsating sound should start

About the second bug:
reproduce all the steps above, but set the sequencer steps to 0
this time there should be a continuous sound (it's intensity is modulated by the 16th step value)

Hope this helps.

That's sad... the delete key was a quick and natural way to delete patch cords-
BTW - I think I spotted another bug, will report soon about it.

Hi I think I spotted a bug in Aalto-

AAlto Vst (32bit) Loaded into Ableton live 8.2.5 on Windows 7 64bit.

Steps to reproduce it:

  • load the default patch
  • connect env2 output to the gate level input
  • set env2 repeat control to max (220)
  • play with env2 attack controll (sweep it from min. to max and back)
  • set env2 repeat control to a middle value: it shouldn't pulse anymore...continuous high rate instead. Note that env2 output light stays always on, even if you load a different patch: to turn it off you have to reload aalto.

After a few tries I noticed that every attack value from 0.11 to max can engage the bug.

I guess too. I spotted this casually, I was working on a repetitive sound with a really soft attack, while doing some finetuning I accidentally set the repeat rate of env2 to max... and spotted the bug.

+1 for inverting the post order here.

I'm using aalto a lot, expecially the sequencer to make nice rythmic/melodic phrases. Sometimes, tweaking and tweaking I come up with something nice, but the 1st beat/note of the sequence I like is not on the 1st step of the sequencer... so I have to rewrite the entire sequence (both gate and cv values) shifting it back or forward as many steps as needed: it's a really boring task!
Why do not implement two buttons that actually shift the entire sequence to the left or to the right?

my fault... my english is not so good :P

Yes, the offset control is useful to achieve a shift of the whole sequence, but only when it's not modulated by the "voices" output...which I do quite a lot actually. See the last post in the patch thread: in this patch it's impossible to shift the whole sequence using the offset control.

In general I think that everytime the offset is being modulated by some other parameter it's no more suitable to be used as a shift for the whole sequence.

Fount it myself: ableton live still doesn't support 64bit plugins
