I remember a looong time ago (5 years? Maybe more?) one of the features of Aalto was hand-tuned tonal parameters for each user's installer to kinda emulate the slight variations in different pieces of analog gear. Seems like the direct download of a personalized installer for Aalto doesn't exist anymore in the account section, so I assume this was phased out (too much effort for too little benefit?).

I don't have much of an opinion one way or the other about it (I always did wonder what other people's plugins sounded like though) but just curious.

People are full of contradictions aren't they. :~) Interesting to hear what happened, thanks.

Still getting stuck notes in FL Studio. Was it supposed to be fixed in this version?

will it be powered by green tomatoes or will it just produce salsa verde at the output ?

Good point about the sequencer! I guess you can resynchronize all voices by turning key trig on and hitting 4 notes at the same time. It would be nice to be able to increase the number of voices while keeping their sequencers in sync though (only as an option since you wouldn't always want that).

Also check out this patch:

If you turn off the sequencer glide (it's at 0.01 right now) you should be able to hear some clicking from the pan modulation.

Your rhythms are really nice garf, here's my first try... Also meant to be heard at 100 bpm.

It isn't relevant to your Mac OS workflow, but just to let you know, the live recording is easy as pie in FL Studio.

Yeah the new version is great and I've been waiting so long for it (and it has been worth the wait), but I really prefer the flat minimal look of the old version. Felt a lot cleaner and slicker, things stood out more and it looked more like a legitimate piece of art than software.

I like the old colors more too and I remember the animations of modulations being more visible/less aliased, but I don't know if that's just something that depends on which size you have the window at.

Aalto 1.2.6 (32-bit)
FL Studio 10.0.9 / Reaper 4.10 (both 32-bit)
Windows 7 64-bit

  • When loading a preset the sequencer doesn't start all voices at the same time consistently.
  • The linear pitch input has a minimum value of 4 instead of 0.
  • The pan input could use a tiny bit of smoothing because instantaneous changes (e.g. from the sequencer) cause clicks.
