ForumsSoftware ← [Aalto] odd noise when using the sequencer

Hi, new Aalto user here (I got interested when I saw the Finnish name). I bought the full version and discovered that when I use the sequencer I get "extra" notes. For example in a simple 4 to the floor kick drum patch, I get a nasty extra beat somewhere between 3 and 4 every couple of bars. It has a kind of detuned, wandering pitch.

I started from the default patch and set everything that I'm not using to zero and I can't for the life of me see where it is coming from!

My DAW is Bitwig 4.2 (most recent stable version).
Aalto was installed a couple of days ago so that should be the most recent version too.

Any ideas? Will paste the patch later when I get home (that is such a cool feature!!!)

Thanks!

EDIT - I should say voices are set to 1 and there is no offset...

Hi New Aalto user, I can definitely check oiut your patch if you send it to me. You can post it here or email to support@madronalabs.com.

Also please tell me what kind of computer CPU / OS you are using.

Another idea is to reduce the signal vector / process buffer size in your DAW and hear if that helps. But most things in a sequencer patch like you describe should be at full audio rate anyway.

Hello! Thanks for replying, that was my patch. In this case there is no pitch variation, but an extra gate signal, sometimes towards the start of the bar, sometimes at the end.

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.30 GHz
OS: Windows 11 Home Version 21H2

Also it is now in demo mode (wash of noise and I can't save patches) even though it says it is licensed to me and when I click on my name it says "your license is up to date"

Ooh, I think I had envelope 2 also assigned to the sequencer... that would probably do it, right? #learningprocess

Sounds like you fixed the patch? If so I'll leave it at that—if not let me know.

I'm sorry to hear it's not registering for you. I've heard this happens with some Windows systems but can't duplicate on mine. Do you get the demo noise every time you launch Aalto, or just sometimes?

Can you check to see if the license file Aalto.txt is there and contains your license key? It should be in C:/AppData/Roaming/Madrona Labs/Licenses.

Hi, yes! I worked it out whilst watching Aalto videos on YouTube. Both envelopes were being triggered by the sequencer and envelope 2 was firing as well... Tonight the license was fine, no noise, but will check the file if it happens again. BTW, I just spent a great couple of hours making noise drones, really rewarding, thanks for making a great product! I'm looking forward to digging into this, it seems very "playable".

Very glad to hear it. Enjoy!
