ForumsSoftware ← Plug-in unavailable in OS X 10.5.8?

Hi there,

I'm running OS X 10.5.8 and I've just installed Aalto 1.4 for the first time. The installer completes OK, but I'm unable to load Aalto in any of the VST/AU hosts on the machine.

I can see the Aalto.vst package sitting in /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST/ -- Reaper 4.26 and Bidule 0.97 don't show an Aalto VSTi, while Reaper shows an Aalto AUi but won't load it. AU Lab 2.0.1 reports an error about a Madrona Labs plugin when it starts up.

I've repaired permissions on the disk, re-run the installer, rebooted -- and I'm out of ideas!

Am I best advised to run OS X 10.6 or later in order to use Aalto?

Thanks,
James

Running Aalto on 10.5.8 should be fine.

Can you load any other VST instrument plugins in Reaper or Bidule? The Aalto VST has worked well in testing.

The AU problem may be related to the validation issue. I'm dealing with this now and hope to have a fix this week. Sorry for the trouble.

Thank you, Randy!

I don't have difficulty with any other VSTi plugins I've tested - for example, Reaktor and Audio Damage's Tattoo plug are both happy. I tested my Aalto download in Reaper on a work Mac running 10.6 and it worked fine (such a beautiful sounding instrument!)

I have pretty much the same issue. I'm running OX10.5.8; the Aalto 1.4 installer seemed to work fine this morning but the plug in runs in neither DP6 nor Bidule; it's just not there! For the moment I reinstalled Aalto 1.3.2 without any problem but I would love to move up to 1.4. Should I try the 1.4.1 installer or wait a further update? Let me take the opportunity here to also say Randy, I LOVE Aalto.
