ForumsSoftware ← Kaivo Choking

HEya!

I was working on a patch (using a single cycle waveform from adventure kid pack), and I was able to make kaivo choke depending of the note playing.

Here is the patch:

<Kaivo lfo_function="circle" res_mode="metal string" body_mode="large wooden box" sample_name="User\Adventure Kid\AKWF_bw_sawgap/AKWF_gapsaw_0038.wav" pluginVersion="65792" presetName="On To Something" scaleName="12-equal" key_mod="2" key_bend="0" key_glide="0" seq_trig="1" seq_rate="0.26600000262260437" seq_pw="62" seq_value_delay="8" seq_value0="0.5" seq_value1="0.31000000238418579" seq_value2="0.14999999105930328" seq_value3="0.039999999105930328" seq_value5="0.039999999105930328" seq_value6="0.14999999105930328" seq_value7="0.31000000238418579" seq_value8="0.5" seq_value9="0.68999999761581421" seq_value10="0.84999996423721313" seq_value11="0.95999997854232788" seq_value12="1" seq_value13="0.95999997854232788" seq_value14="0.84999996423721313" seq_value15="0.68999999761581421" seq_pulse0="1" seq_pulse8="1" lfo_offset_x="-0.040000021457672119" lfo_offset_y="-2.2351741790771484e-008" lfo_rate="0" lfo_level="0" lfo_rate_p="-0.24000008404254913" lfo_level_p="0.93999993801116943" noise_width="2" noise_falloff="0.0099999997764825821" noise_offset="-0.010000010952353477" noise_rate="10000" noise_level="0.45999997854232788" noise_auto="1" noise_filter="1" noise_offset_p="0.99999994039535522" env1_decay="3.4800000190734863" env1_sustain="0.18999999761581421" env1_release="4.5" env1_level="0.69999998807907104" env2_repeat="0" env2_sustain="1" gran_position_x="0.010000000707805157" gran_density="8" gran_pitch_env="2.9802322387695313e-008" gran_pan="-2.2351741790771484e-008" gran_follow="1" gran_smooth="1" gran_wrap="1" gran_position_x_p="0.27999997138977051" gran_position_y_p="0.99999994039535522" gran_rate_p="0.99999994039535522" gran_pitch_p="1.0399999618530273" gran_pitch_lin_p="152" gran_pitch_env_p="0.99999994039535522" gate_mode="1" gate_decay="0" gate_level_p="0.81999999284744263" res_position="0.75" res_brightness="0.66999995708465576" res_nonlin="0.77999997138977051" res_sustain="0" res_pan="-2.2351741790771484e-008" res_mode_num="1" res_position_p="0.55999994277954102" res_brightness_p="0.79999995231628418" res_pitch_p="1.2399998903274536" res_nonlin_p="0.49999997019767761" res_sustain_p="0.21999996900558472" res_pan_p="0.10999998450279236" res_mix_wet="0.23999999463558197" res_mix_dry="0" body_position_x="0.34000000357627869" body_nonlin="0.37000000476837158" body_tone="0" body_pitch="-2.2351741790771484e-008" body_sustain="0.37999999523162842" body_pitch_mode="2" body_mode_num="1" body_position_x_p="0.5" body_position_y_p="0.5" body_pitch_p="0.99999994039535522" body_mix_wet="0" body_mix_dry="0.48999997973442078" output_tilt="4.4703483581542969e-008" output_chorus="1" patcher_input_1="00000000000000000000000001000000010000000000" patcher_input_2="00000000000010000000000000000000000000000000" patcher_input_16="00000000000000000000001000000010000000000000" editor_x="67" editor_y="67" editor_width="1393" editor_height="754" editor_num="1" editor_anim="1"/>

Would like to know how I can attach the waveform here.

The wave is:

AKWF_gapsaw_0008 from sawgap folder.

Hi pointsource,

From a conversation with Randy:

"Physical models are prone to this sort of “blowing up” if not all stability conditions are met. I always attempt to use theory to insure that this can’t happen, but sometimes reality produces a different result."

Not sure if it's the root of the same problem your patch is experiencing, but I've had Kaivo "blow up" with certain notes in certain patches (usually higher notes). Kaivo gets stuck and I need another instance.

Hi sequencersampler, thanks for chiming in.

I don't know what you mean by blow up (crash?), mine doesn't crash, it just seem to choke or "lock up", there's no sound depending of the note, and the ocilloscope get's all yellow (solid color)... I don't need to open another instance or anything.

Yeah, choke or "lock up" is the behavior I am referring to. In order to remedy the issue I have to start another instance of Kaivo.

Thanks for the example, i'll investigate when I'm back to work on Kaivo.

In my previous post I forgot to mention that once you know what notes are choking up the patch, avoid those to prevent the issue.
