So I know Aalto 2 is the next priority, but was wondering if you'd ever think about adding sample drag and drop import to the Kaivo granulator (I assume this is a common feature request, so there are probs good reasons you haven't done it).

Other thoughts include more resonator and body models (I grant that this is not really an idea and mostly a "more please" feature request, but hey), and realtime audio processing. I get that the latter wouldn't work with Kaivo per se because of the way the granulator works, but a patchable Madrona Labs modular interface that allows guitars or even Sumu's oscs to be plugged into Kaivo's body models would be so fun! (Throw in Virta's pitch tracking, too).

Thanks for all your work!

Oh I remember my final ideas: mouse roll-over tooltips, and legato retriggering options in the Key module (especially useful for realistic patches where I want to play new notes without retriggering envelope start). Thanks!

Hi! Yes, we've been adding a lot of what I would call "workflow improvements" for Aalto 2, and this work will continue with Kaivo and Sumu. Drag and drop is high on the list.

In fact I think most things you're suggesting are going to happen quite soon.

Currently if you switch to unison mode you should get the legato behavior you want. I haven't looked into doing it polyphonically or what players would expect from that- I think a solution that just "does the right thing" might actually be pretty hard!

thanks for the reply! yeah that's probably true about doing it polyphonically. it's just something i think would work especially well with physical modelling for things like string gestures where you don't want the envelope to retrigger, e.g. gentle hammer ons or slides that you do while palm muting a guitar. maybe it would have to be per channel or per string when using something like a Linnstrument with MPE.

that's awesome to hear about the other stuff, thanks! similarly, an easier way of getting partials into Sumu than via Vutu would be great, but I imagine that's a trickier proposition than sample drag and drop for the Kaivo granulator.

thanks as always. you make the best software instruments!
