ForumsSoftware ← Tiny wishes for possible Aalto2

Hi Randy,

I just came across this post
https://madronalabs.com/topics/10487-aalto-sequencer-bug?locale=eu

and was very glady surprised that an update of Aalto seems on the way.

I've been using Aalto very happily since 2012 (!) and many times i wished that:

1/ the sequencer's [?] parameter was midi assignable for live performance.
I mainly use Ableton Live and this parameter does not show when configuring the VST (i know there are MaxForLive solutions, but still ...)

2/ there was a modulation input for Carrier/Mod/Reverb volumes (especially Reverb which is often too loud, even at minimum settings)

Would that be possible ?

Thank you for your attention and for this so wonderful synth.

Paul

The trouble is there's no "?" parameter really, you can think of it as a button internal to the synth, that sets random values for all the sequencer parameters. I'll think about whether there's some way to enable your (very brave!) use case with scripting or something.

We're adding more control over the reverb / output section. I'm not quite understanding you though - in Aalto you mean reverb at 0.01 is too loud? I can barely hear it at that setting (something like -40 dB). You can also set a lower value than 0.01 with the fine adjust and see it in the DAW's generic plugin interface if you want to.

Sorry for being unclear. I meant the modulation amount to the reverb input. I use it a lot with Env2, and at bare minimum it would be nice to have it a bit lower. This is in a live use case, so no DAW automation.
But regardless, being able to modulate the reverb output parameter also would be nice for sure.
I know the beauty of an instrument also lies in its limitations, but still, that would be great.

Regarding the "?", though it is obviously not a parameter per se (sorry for the inappropriate word), I thought that if it's on the GUI, it's a trigger that could be a real, assignable parameter (separated from the ramp and square buttons).
But this is probably a naive wishful thinking since i know nothing about programming.

Thanks and good luck until the final release.
