I noticed that sumu 1.1.1 on Ableton 12.2 - 12.3 saturates GPU memory usage to the point of crashing the DAW.
It uses all the available RAM in the system. ( 36Gb total )
If I instead set sumu to no-show, everything works normally again.
The error refers to:
NVIDIA OpenGL Driver, Error code: 6, An application has requested more GPU memory than is
available in the system.
The application will now be closed.
Hi and thanks for the report. This is not familiar to me. I can check into it. What operating system are you using please?
Windows 11 pro 24H2 ( 10.0.26100 build 26100 )
On Ultra 7 265KF
Z890 chipset
32GB DDR 5 6000
RTX QUADRO T400
Thanks. I have a Windows 11 machine here. Do you have a utility you are using to track GPU memory usage? I'm happy to research this but using the same one will help me reproduce what you are seeing.
I sent you a small video sample (low quality ..) via email
On task manager windows and HWINFO they have the same behavior
received thanks!
SOLVED: I switched from the default profile driver settings to selecting the openGL 3D profile and now it no longer overloads the memory
Wow, that's interesting. I guess the other profile is for Direct3D?
Of course it's still not ideal if there's a setting you have to change to use Sumu but I'm glad you have a workaround.
I have no idea... I never modified the graphics card's panel profile before this problem.
Since the card was recovered from the old WS, it may be too old for the current hardware, but it shouldn't be, since it's still a commercially available graphics card.
